Somalia: Al Shabaab releases 14 Iranian fishermen after 8 years
14 Iranian fishermen, who were kidnapped by Al Shabaab members in 2014, have been freed after being held in Somalia for 8 years.
The Iranian foreign ministry said that it had successfully negotiated the release of the hostages held by the al-Shabaab group in Somalia.
The fishermen arrived at Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran last night from Mogadishu, Somalia's capital.
The fishermen, who are residents of Chabahar in southeast Iran on the Sea of Oman, had been captured by the Al-Shabaab group in international waters near Somalia in 2014. (ILKHA)
