Turkish forces seize more than 35 kilograms of cocaine in Edirne
Turkish gendarmerie forces in the northwestern Turkish province of Edirne have seized more than 35 kilograms of cocaine, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Sunday.
“As a result of a long-term follow-up by the Edirne Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, 35 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, 460 kilograms of ecstasy, 760 grams of resin cannabis, and 9 tubes of liquid cannabis were seized in a truck that entered the country,” Soylu wrote on Twitter.
Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted of these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
