The Royal Thai Navy's corvette HTMS Sukhothai sunk in the gulf of Thailand in the middle of the stormy sea.

The Royal Thai Navy dispatched three frigates and two helicopters to try to assist the ship by removing the seawater but it couldn't do so because of the strong winds.

As per the reports, at least 75 crew members of HTMS Sukhothai have been rescued by the Royal Thai Navy.

“33 people still missing or afloat at sea. One-third of the people on board the HTMS Sukhothai were passengers to be attended the ceremony in Chumporn,” the Thai Armed Force said on Twitter.

HTMS Sukhothai was a corvette of the Ratanakosin class belonging to the Royal Thai Navy, which was commissioned on February 19, 1987.

The ship was named after the first king of the Kingdom of Sukhothai, the capital city of Sukhothai in present-day north-central Thailand. (ILKHA)
