5 FETO-linked suspects nabbed on Turkey-Greece border
5 FETO-linked suspects were held in Turkey’s northwestern Edirne while attempting to cross to Turkey from Greece, the country’s Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
“Our border units on the Edirne border line nabbed 5 people trying to cross illegally from Greece to Turkey. The persons were found to be the members of the FETO terrorist organization,” the Ministry tweeted.
Since May 2016, the FETO organization has been classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey under the assigned names Fethullahist Terrorist Organization and Parallel State Structure.
After the failed coup attempt in 2016, the government of Turkey blamed the group for the coup and authorities have arrested thousands of soldiers and judges who have links to the organization. (ILKHA)
