Turkish police seize over 3 tons methamphetamine in Istanbul, Interior Ministry says
Türkiye’s Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said Thursday that police seized over 3.5 tons of methamphetamine during an operation against drug dealers in Istanbul.
“After six months of investigation, police seized 3 tons and 533 kilograms of methamphetamine in an operation carried out between Nov. 16-23. 12 people were arrested, and judicial proceedings are underway against 10 people,” Soylu said in a statement on Twitter.
Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted of these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
