At least 12 dead, 30 injured in Egypt traffic accident
At least 12 people were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident in eastern Egypt on Sunday.
The incident occurred when a bus collided with a heavy transport truck on the Zafarana-Ras Ghareb Road, 40 kilometers north of Ras Ghareb in the Red Sea province, according to local reports.
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the collision, Egyptian officials said.
Egypt has one of the highest rates of road accidents worldwide, with more than 12,000 fatalities each year, according to the World Health Organization.
Crashes are mostly caused by speeding, careless driving, bad roads, or poor enforcement of traffic laws. (ILKHA)
