Magnitude 4.2 earthquake hits northern Algeria
An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred around noon on Sunday at 12:48 pm local time near Tizi Ouzou, Algeria, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
According to preliminary data, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a very shallow depth of 5 km.
Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface, experts say.
There were no immediate reports of any damages or casualties after the quake. (ILKHA)
