“The oil tanker was carrying about 20,000 liters of petrol when it overturned at a bend on the road. Local people including the victims immediately after the accident were trying to collect the petrol leaking from the oil tanker when the tanker caught fire,” Aizawl district Superintendent of Police C. Lalruaia said.

Four of the injured, who are in critical condition, were rushed to the Synod Hospital in the State capital Aizawl.

The officials have launched an investigation into the incident. (ILKHA)
