Tropical Storm Nalgae kills at least 48 people in the Philippines
At least 48 people have been killed in the devastating tropical storm Nalgae in the Philippines, the country’s disaster agency said.
A further 14 people were reported missing after the storm made landfall on Friday packing winds of 75 kilometers (46 miles) per hour.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which was the hardest-hit region in the country, recorded more than 40 deaths in Maguindanao del Norte alone.
Bangsamoro Interior and Local Government Minister Naguib Sinarimbo said that BARMM’s Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence also counted at least 31 people injured and 15 others missing.
As of 03:00 UTC on Sunday, Severe Tropical Storm Nalgae (Paeng) is located about 172 nautical miles (320 km; 200 mi) northwest of Manila, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration. (ILKHA)
