Zangezur corridor will provide trade and investment opportunities--Erdoğan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan held a joint press conference following their bilateral meeting in the Azerbaijani city of Jabrayil.
Speaking at a joint press conference with President Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Erdoğan said: “As Türkiye we are ready to stand by Azerbaijan in all projects, particularly agriculture, green energy, and smart cities, within the framework of the Karabakh action plan.”
“Azerbaijan is getting back to its feet again”
Underscoring during his remarks that he had seen what had been done to Jabrayil during the occupation, Erdoğan noted that the destructed and torn sites were getting back to their feet through a rare and huge development initiative under the leadership of President Aliyev, and said: “A new Azerbaijan is being constructed with all its viaducts, bridges, railways, highways and freeways. These are the steps taken and the works carried out by especially my brother Ilham Aliyev and his entire team. Azerbaijan is getting back to its feet again by rising from its ashes, so to speak, in such a short span of time.”
Stressing that Türkiye continued to stand by Azerbaijan in all projects, particularly agriculture, green energy, and smart cities, within the framework of the Karabakh action plan, Erdoğan stated: “By advancing the steps that have already been taken, we stand ready to develop together a lot more important and much more giant projects in solidarity. The forestry training center and plantation we have inaugurated today are the symbols of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan solidarity.”
“Our sole purpose is to build a prosperous future for our region”
Also touching upon the Zangezur corridor, Erdoğan said: “In addition to contributing to the peace, tranquility, and stability of the region, this corridor will provide trade and investment opportunities for all the countries located in the trans-Caspian east-west-middle corridor route. During its 44-day-long fight for its country, Azerbaijan not only saved its own lands from occupation but also took back its rights which had not been granted for 30 years. Azerbaijan, which has taken sincere steps and made constructive offers during its negotiations with Armenia, has proven that its ultimate goal is lasting peace, prosperity, and stability. As I always say, peace will have no losers. Our sole purpose is to build a prosperous future for our region and to maintain Azerbaijan-Armenia and Türkiye-Armenia normalization processes in a way whereby they support one another. We should make use of this window of opportunity in the best way possible.” (ILKHA)
