Jeremy Hunt appointed UK's new Chancellor after Kwarteng sacked
British Prime Minister Liz Truss has appointed Jeremy Hunt as new Chancellor of the Exchequer after sacking Kwasi Kwarteng earlier on Friday.

“The King has been pleased to approve the following appointments: Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Edward Argar MP as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Chris Philp MP as Paymaster General, and Minister for the Cabinet Office,” Downing Street has confirmed in a statement.

Jeremy Richard Streynsham Hunt previously served in the Cabinet as Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport from 2010 to 2012, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from 2012 to 2018, and Foreign Secretary from 2018 to 2019.
A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Surrey since 2005. (ILKHA)
