Forest fire breaks out in southern Türkiye
Firefighters are working with forestry officials to extinguish a forest fire that began early Monday in the coastal Kumluca region of the Mediterranean province of Antalya.
Firefighters were sent to the area to tame the blaze, Antalya Regional Directorate of Forestry said.
The cause of the fire is unknown, officials said.
Due to climate and forest vegetation, Türkiye has regions, particularly the Mediterranean and Aegean regions, that are vulnerable to forest fires.
Approximately 2000 forest fires have occurred every year for the last 20 years, with at least 48% of them caused by humans. (ILKHA)
