Türkiye’s unemployment rate decreases in August—statistical agency
The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over decreased by 100 thousand to 3 million 312 thousand persons in August 2022 compared to the previous month, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.
As the unemployment rate estimated 9.6% with 0.4 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month; it was estimated 8.2% for men and 12.5% for women.
Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 47.9%
The number of employed persons increased by 366 thousand to 31 million 14 thousand persons in August 2022 compared to the previous month.
The employment rate occurred as 47.9% with 0.5 percentage point increase. In addition, this rate was 65.3% for men, 30.8% for women.
Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate realized as 53.0%
The number of persons in the labor force realized as 34 million 326 thousand persons with 266 thousand persons increase in August 2022 compared to the previous month.
Labor force participation rate was 53.0% with 0.4 percentage point increase. Also, this rate was 71.2% for men, it was 35.1% for women.
Seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 18.0%
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 18.0% with 0.8 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month. While this rate was estimated 15.2% for men and 23.3% for women.
Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours was 44.1
Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours of persons at work during the reference period increased by 0.9 hours and estimated 44.1 hours compared to the previous month in August 2022.
Seasonally adjusted composite measure of labor underutilization rate realized as 19.8%
In August 2022, the rate of composite measure of labor underutilization consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployment was 19.8% with 2.6 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month.
While combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment realized as 13.3%, combined rate of unemployment and potential labor force estimated as 16.4%. (ILKHA)
