Sheikh Sabri pointed out that the zionist authorities are working to gradually impose Jewish sovereignty over the Mosque, by increasing the settlers’ incursions every year.

Occupied Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa Mosque are turned into a military barracks to provide protection to the settlers' access, he added.

Sheikh Sabri for intensifying Palestinian presence at the holy shrine and to defend it by all possible means in face of the increasing israeli attacks.

He further stressed the need for an Arab and Islamic action in support of al-Aqsa Mosque.

Since the early morning hours, zionist police forces deployed in large numbers at the entrances to al-Aqsa, preventing Palestinian worshipers' access and paved the way to hundreds of Jewish settlers under the pretext of the so-called Hebrew New Year.

Palestinian worshipers were violently attacked and pushed back, including women. Some of them were besieged at the tribal prayer hall amid heavy fire of teargas and sound bombs.

In recent days, the zionist police issued orders banning a number of Islamic Awqaf employees and Muslim worshipers from entering the Aqsa Mosque for different periods and allowed scores of settlers to desecrate it under the pretext of the Jewish holidays. (ILKHA)
