Ukraine says Russia has lost more than 56,700 soldiers since aggression began
About 56,700 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine since the aggression began, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, Ukraine’s forces destroyed 2,275 Russian tanks, 259 aircraft, 220 helicopters, and 4,832 armored carriers.
The statement said that Ukrainian forces had destroyed 1,368 Russian artillery systems.
According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), about 6,000 Ukrainian civilians were killed in Russian attacks.
OHCHR said that it believes that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration.
Since Russian aggression began, over 1 million Ukrainians have been displaced by the war, most of them within the country. (ILKHA)
