The exit polls predict a victory for the right-wing led by Giorgia Meloni, who could become the first woman to become the country’s top post.

Nearly 51 million Italians will go to polls, including 2.7 million first time voters, until polling closes at 11pm, following which the results are expected to be made known.

The voters will elect all members of the two chambers of the Italian parliament. After a constitutional referendum that was held in 2020, the size of the chambers will be halved, to 400 members in the Chamber of Deputies and 200 in the Senate. (ILKHA)
