“I would like to thank the Turkish government for helping facilitate the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia, building on their leadership on the grain deal,” White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan tweeted.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that those released by Russia included foreign citizens who fought for Ukraine.

“Together with over two hundred Ukrainian soldiers, five UK citizens, two US citizens, a Sweden, a Croatian and a Moroccan were released today. Thanks to everyone who organized this important exchange,” Yermak said in a statement on Twitter.

“Among those freed are 10 foreigners who had fought for Ukraine within the ranks of our military and were threatened with death. They are already in the city of Riyadh,” he added.

In his daily address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said that Russia had received 55 prisoners including Viktor Medvedchuk, a former Ukrainian lawmaker and ally of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin accused of high treason. (ILKHA)
