Two police officers stabbed in London
Two policemen were stabbed when they tried to encounter a man armed with a knife near Leicester Square in central London.
“At approximately 06:00hrs on Friday, 16 September officers were on patrol in the area of Leicester Square when they were made aware of a man in possession of a knife. Officers challenged the man and during attempts to detain him received stab injuries,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The statement stated that the injured officers, one male and one female, were taken to hospital for treatment, noting that their injuries are not life threatening.
“While enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, at this early stage it is not thought the incident is terror related,” it added. (ILKHA)
