Turkey captures senior executive of Daesh/ISIL, Erdogan says
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that security forces had arrested a top official of ISIL.
“Bashar Khattab Ghazal al-Sumaidai, codenamed Abu Zeid/Master Zeid, was captured in a successful operation by the Turkish intelligence and Istanbul police,” Erdogan told reporters on board his flight home from a three-nation tour of the Balkans.
“UN Security Council report published in July identified Sumaidai as one of the senior executives of the ISIL group,” Erdoğan noted.
“He also stated in his interrogation that he was a so-called 'qadi' of the so-called ministry of education and ministry of justice,” he added. (ILKHA)
