Turkish inflation exceeds 80% in August
Consumer price index (CPI) realized as 80.21% annually and 1.46% monthly, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement.
A change in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 1.46%, on December of the previous year by 47.85%, on same month of the previous year by 80.21% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 54.69% in August 2022.
Communication with 27.05% was the main group that indicated the lowest annual increase. On the other hand, transportation with 116.87% was the main group where the highest annual increase realized.
In August 2022, transportation with -1.78% was the main group that indicated the lowest monthly increase. On the other hand, health with 7.01% was the main group where the highest monthly increase realized.
In August 2022, within indices of 144 basic headings (Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose-COICOP 5 Digit Level) in the index, the index of 16 basic headings decreased and the index of 5 basic headings remained unchanged while the index of 123 basic headings increased.
The indicator for CPI having specified coverage (B) realized as 72.53% annually and 3.17% monthly
A change in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 3.17%, on December of the previous year by 41.95%, on same month of the previous year by 72.53% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 47.31% in August 2022.
