“We are deeply saddened to learn that many people lost their lives and were injured in the terrorist attacks that took place on 2 September in the Hiraan district of Somalia,” the Ministry said.

“We condemn these heinous terrorist attacks in the strongest possible terms and wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives, extend our condolences to the relatives as well as to the friendly and brotherly Government and people of Somalia, and wish speedy recovery to the injured,” the Ministry added.

On Friday, at least 20 people were killed when an armed group attacked trucks laden with food aid in the Hiran area in the semi-autonomous state of Hirshabelle in central Somalia.

In a written statement, al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack. (ILKHA)
