Hamas urges support for Palestinian detainees in fight against detention conditions
Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has called on Palestinians, Arab and Islamic nations, and free peoples of the world to take a serious and clear stance in support of steps taken by Palestinian detainees to protest their conditions.
During a conference in Turkey entitled "Unified against Jailors" prior to the Palestinian detainees' planned action, Haniyeh said: “All components of the Palestinian national movement must be ready to deal with any potential 'developments'”.
Haniyeh stressed that the Palestinian people will never accept the Palestinian detainees held in Israeli occupation jails to be denied their basic human rights.
The Hamas chief voiced support with all means possible for the Palestinian detainees in their fight against the Israeli occupation's sadistic policies.
Haniyeh called on all regional and international organizations, including the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the UN Security Council, to shoulder their moral responsibility and put an end to the Israeli occupation's policies targeting Palestinian detainees in its prisons.
The issue of Palestinian detainees is a matter of national consensus among all segments of the Palestinian people, Haniyeh stressed.
Haniyeh concluded by emphasizing that releasing Palestinian detainees from Israeli jails is a top priority for Hamas. (ILKHA)
