Türkiye achieves major transformation in education over past two decades--Erdoğan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the appointment ceremony of 20 thousand teachers at the Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center.

Expressing his joy to be with teachers on this special day in terms of their education and professional life, President Erdoğan said: “I congratulate each one of the 20 thousand teachers who will be appointed soon. I wish you success in your places of duty.”
“We have increased our education budget to tl304 billion”
The total number of teachers will exceed one million ten thousand with the appointment of new teachers, said Erdoğan. “This number stood at some 526 thousand when we assumed the responsibility to govern the country in 2002. 750 thousand of the teachers currently on duty have been appointed during our terms in office.”
Pointing out that Türkiye has reached the OECD average in the number of students per teacher and that the amount allocated to education from the state budget has been increased from 10.3 billion Turkish liras to 304 billion Turkish liras, Erdoğan further stressed: “Equipping our schools with libraries, laboratories, workshops and sports halls; meeting our students’ needs from text books to auxiliary materials free of charge; in short, having lifted obstacles to our country’s progress in education one by one, we have achieved a major transformation over the past two decades.” (ILKHA)
