Afghan national army has 150,000 personnel—Defense Minister
Afghanistan's acting defense minister on Sunday said the country’s current military size is 150,000, adding that the number may increase in the future.
“National Army of IEA are capable of defending the country's territorial integrity and independence. We are continuing capacity building efforts form more professional and well-equipped army,” Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid said during a conference in Kabul.
Mujahid noted that about 60 damaged helicopters had been repaired in the past one year and ready to fly again.
He also added that thousands of people who were stranded in recent floods across the country had been rescued by security forces with the help of helicopters. (ILKHA)
