Monsoon rains leave at least 777 dead in Pakistan
Flash floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains have killed at 777 people across Pakistan over the last two months.
Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rovinces have been the worst affected after heavy rainfall hit across Pakistan.
Since June 14, rain and flooding have affected 1.8 million people, and 317,678 of them were still living in relief camps across the country, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
More than 60,000 homes across the country have been damaged by the floods, the agency said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has appealed nation to donate generously in fund established for rehabilitation of flood affected people in Balochistan.
“If the whole nation moves forward for contributions in relief fund, we can be successful in rehabilitating the victims many times faster,” Sharif said. (ILKHA)
