Jordan condemns ongoing zionist settler incursions into Al-Aqsa complex
Jordan condemned the ongoing Zionist settlers’ incursions into at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the latest of which was allowing extremist settlers and a Knesset member to storm the compound, under the police protection.
“The extremists’ break-ins and provocation are a violation of the historical and legal status quo and international law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates’ spokesperson, Haitham Abu Alfoul, said in a statement.
Abu Alfoul underlined that Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunums, is purely a place of worship for Muslims and that the Jordanian-run Waqf (endowments) and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem has the exclusive jurisdiction to run all the affairs of the holy site.
He also called on Zionist occupation regime to stop practices and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, respect its sanctity, halt measures aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo, and respect the Waqf and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem. (ILKHA)
