Çavuşoğlu: First ship carrying grain deports from Ukrainian port
“As part of safe shipment of Ukrainian grain over the Black Sea, the first ship departed from Ukraine,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Twitter on Monday.
“We hope this process will continue without interruptions & problems. We’ll do what is necessary to this end. We hope that the agreement will lead to a ceasefire & lasting peace,” Çavuşoğlu added.
Earlier on Monday, the Turkish Defense Ministry confirmed that the first ship carrying Ukrainian grain had set off from the port of Odesa.
The Sierra Leone-flagged cargo ship, Razoni left the port of Odesa for Lebanon, the ministry said.
On July 22, Russian and Ukrainian officials signed a UN-backed deal aimed at allowing grain exports to leave Ukraine to help ease a global food crisis caused in part by Moscow's invasion of its neighbor. (ILKHA)
