Two Palestinians killed, 19 others wounded in ZOF raid in Nablus
Two Palestinian resistance fighters from al-Aqsa Brigades were killed and at least 19 other citizens were injured during armed clashes at dawn Sunday with the zionist occupation forces (ZOF) in Nablus City.
The Red Crescent said that two young men identified as Abdul-Rahman Soboh and Mohamed al-Azizi were shot dead during four hours of fierce armed clashes with the ZOF in the Old City of Nablus.
19 others also suffered injuries, three of them seriously, and were evacuated to hospitals by ambulance crews from the Red Crescent.
It was not clear if the wounded or some of them had been directly involved in the armed clashes.
The Red Crescent pointed out that the ZOF barred the access of its ambulances to the area of the clashes.
Local sources explained that armed clashes with resistance fighters and subsequent confrontations with angry local youths happened in Nablus City after dozens of military and police vehicles carrying troops and special forces stormed its streets from different directions and encircled al-Yasmina neighborhood in the Old City, amid drone overflights.
They added that the ZOF encircled a house in the neighborhood, spread through nearby alleys and streets and occupied the rooftops of some homes before showering the house with live bullets and firing at least one missile at it.
Following about four hours of a military campaign and clashes, the IOF withdrew from Nablus City, while several ambulance crews were able to enter the neighborhood where the house is located and evacuated two young men, who were critically injured, to Rafidia Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Later, an israeli border police spokesman claimed in a statement that special forces from the Yamam unit along with military and police soldiers clashed for a number of hours with Palestinians who opened fire and hurled explosive devices from the home of a wanted man in Nablus’ Old City.
The spokesman said that during the exchange of fire, a number of Palestinians were killed while there were no casualties to Israeli forces, adding that no arrests were made during the raid.
He added that the troops used live ammunition and other means to neutralize the gunmen who were in and on top of the building. (ILKHA)
