FARC Leader Ivan Marquez reportedly killed in Venezuela
Ivan Marquez, one of the leaders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), was killed in Venezuela, Venezuelan intelligence sources confirmed.
Luciano Marín Arango, aka “Iván Márquez”, a Colombian guerrilla leader, and member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) was killed during attack in Venezuela near the border with Colombia.
Márquez’s death occurred in the midst of war being waged in Venezuelan territory between criminal organizations to keep control of the illicit drug trafficking business, especially in the border area with Colombia, according to local media reports.
Luciano Marín Arango, aka "Iván Márquez" was a Colombian guerrilla leader, member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), part of its secretariat higher command and advisor to the Northwestern and Caribbean blocs.
He was part of the FARC negotiators that concluded a peace agreement with the Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos.
On 29 August 2019, Márquez abandoned the peace process and announced a renewed armed conflict with the Colombian government. (ILKHA)
