Erdoğan briefed on wildfire in southern Türkiye
The wildfire, which began around 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday in Muğla’s district of Marmaris, affected more than 8,400 acres of land, authorities said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was briefed on the ongoing wildfire in Muğla’s district of Marmaris by Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişçi.
“One person has been arrested on suspicion of setting fire to the forest out of frustration due to family issues,” Interior Minister Soylu said.
The flames have spread due to high winds in the region, according to local sources.
On Friday morning, Forestry and Agriculture Minister Vahit Kirisci told reporters that there would be more high temperature and wind as of afternoon. (ILKHA)
