Heavy snowfall kills 12 children in northeastern Afghanistan
Heavy snowfall has killed at least 12 children in in Dara-e-Dugal district of Afghanistan’s northeastern Kunar province, authorities said.
Heavy snowfall in Dara-e-Dugal district killed 12 children and hundreds of livestock, local officials in Kunar province said, without giving further details.
Health and emergency teams are dispatched to the area to help the affected people.
Bakhtar News Agency reported that dozens of families had been stranded following heavy snowfall in Kund area between Laghman and Kunar provinces.
Officials have launched rescue efforts for those stuck in the snow.
The area is covered with 2.5 meters of snow, according to local sources. (ILKHA)
