Ukraine: About 33,600 Russian soldiers killed since aggression began
Nearly 33,600 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine since the aggression began, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, Ukraine’s forces destroyed 1,468 Russian tanks, 216 aircraft, 181 helicopters, and 3,577 armored carriers.
The statement said that Ukrainian forces had destroyed 745 Russian artillery systems.
According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), more than 10,000 civilians, including hundreds of children, have now been killed or injured in the war in Ukraine.
“Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide impact area, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, and missile and airstrikes,” OHCHR said.
The agency noted that it believes that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration.
UN refugee agency said that about 10 million Ukrainians had been forced to leave their homes since Russian aggression began. (ILKHA)
