Zionist regime kidnaps 450 Palestinian children since beginning of 2022
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said on Tuesday that zionist occupation authority (ZOA) has kidnapped 450 Palestinian children, including 353 children from Jerusalem, since the beginning of 2022.
A report issued by the Commission pointed out that 170 Palestinian children are still held in the israeli prisons and detention centers, including ten who exceeded the age of childhood during their arrests, such as Ahmad Manasra.
According to the report, the ZOA issues long detention orders against Palestinian children and deprives them of basic human rights such as proper medical treatment and a fair trial, which violates the International human rights and the rights of child convention.
“Palestinian children are beaten during their arrest and some of them are held in solitary confinement,” the Commission underlined, adding that Israeli authorities forcibly extract confessions from Palestinian children and make them sign papers without knowing their content.
The Commission pointed out that the Israeli courts deliberately issue long imprisonment terms and impose heavy fines on detained Palestinian children, warning that Palestinian children are subjected to brutal torment and harsh circumstances in the israeli jails and detention centers.
It called on the international community especially organizations defending children's human rights to assume their responsibility by protecting the Palestinian children against Israeli arbitrary arrests.
The IOA arrested 1,300 Palestinian children in 2021, which constituted a 140% increase over 2020. (ILKHA)
