Southern Gas Corridor's importance increases after recent international developments--Erdoğan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sent a message to a special session held in Shusha as part of the Baku Energy Week.
Cahit Bağcı, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Baku, delivered Erdoğan's message at the special session held in Shusha, the symbol city of Karabakh, as part of the Baku Energy Week held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
“As in every other field, our excellent cooperation with Brotherly Azerbaijan in the energy sector is crucial for our nations and regions. By realizing mega investments such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines, as well as the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline TANAP, we have made significant contributions to regional and global energy supply security. The Southern Gas Corridor, of which TANAP is the backbone, is Europe's fourth natural gas artery during this critical period,” Erdoğan said.
Erdoğan stated that the Southern Gas Corridor transported 15 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Türkiye and 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas to other European nations, and added:
“As stressed in the Shusha Declaration, in which we elevated our relationship with my brother Ilham Aliyev to that of an alliance, we attach importance to expanding the Southern Gas Corridor's capacity. The current developments in the international arena demonstrate that the steps we have taken are the right ones. Now, the crucial significance of Türkiye-Azerbaijan cooperation to the energy security of Europe is better understood.
Under my brother Ilham Aliyev's leadership, Azerbaijan's vision regarding renewable energy has served as a guide for regional stability and prosperity. Declaring Karabakh and East Zangezur as “Green Energy Zones” is an extremely accurate step in this regard. I wish the Baku Energy Week, which is being held at a time when the importance of energy and energy security is rising, continued success.” (ILKHA)
