Türkiye’s fishery production rises by 1.8% in 2021—statistical agency
Fishery production increased by 1.8% in 2021 with respect to the previous year and occurred as 799 thousand 851 tons, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Thursday.
The total fishery production was composed of catched sea fish by 32.8%, catched other sea products by 4.1%, catched inland water products by 4.1% and aquaculture products by 59%.
In 2021, capture of fishery products decreased by 9.9%
While the production made by capture was 328 thousand 165 tons, aquaculture production occurred as 471 thousand 686 tons. The capture of marine production decreased by 10.9%, capture of inland water production increased by 0.1% with respect to the previous year.
The quantity of the capture of sea fish occurred 262 thousand 297 tons. When examined the distribution of the capture of sea fish, the highest amount of fish is anchovy with 151 thousand 598 tons. Sprat with 28 thousand 041 tons and horse mackerel with 19 thousand 590 tons followed the anchovy.
In 2021, aquaculture production increased by 11.9%
Aquaculture production occurred as 335 thousand 644 tons at the seas,136 thousand 042 tons at the inland waters in 2021. While the most important type produced at the inland waters is trout as 135 thousand 732 tons, the most important types produced at the sea are sea bass as 155 thousand 151 tons and sea bream as 133 thousand 476 tons.
