Erdoğan reiterates Turkey’s opposition to Finland and Sweden's NATO bids
Turkish President and Justice and Development Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the party’s group meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
“We have foiled every single plan on our region that might cause unfavorable results for us,” Erdoğan said.
Noting that the administration worked hard to turn regional and global crises into opportunities for Turkey, Erdoğan said: “Thanks be to Allah, cries of victory have risen up from everywhere we supported our brothers and sisters from Libya to Karabakh. We have foiled every single plan on our region that might cause unfavorable results for us.”
“The Western world has remained indifferent to the security problems and humanitarian tragedies across Turkey’s southern borders. However, following the outbreak of a hot conflict north of the Black Sea, they found themselves right in the middle of a similar crisis. They have been faced with, for merely 3 short months, a tiny proportion of the burden we have been carrying for 11 years, and they have already begun whining. Those, who used their means to boost their wealth instead of contributing to security alliances, the entire burden of which Turkey have shouldered for years, are now rushing to NATO’s doors after the Ukraine crisis. The bid by Sweden and Finland to join NATO is a product of such a process. We have declared right away and in a clear manner that we are against their NATO membership because of their support to the PKK terrorist organization and its extension organizations”. (ILKHA)
