5 missiles hit US airbase in Iraq
At least 5 grad missiles struck the Ain al-Asad base in Iraq’s western Anbar province on Monday, Iraqi security sources said.
According to preliminary reports, the missiles hit only a few meters from where US forces are stationed but the extent of damage and the presence of victims is not specified.
An Iraqi group called the International Resistance Faction issued a statement on Telegram claiming responsibility for the attack on the US Ain al-Assad.
The U.S Ayn al-Asad military base is located in the Al Anbar Governorate of western Iraq. It was originally known as Qadisiyah Airbase.
In late March 2020, the U.S. military deployed Patriot air defense systems in Al Asad Airbase as a precaution against possible further Iranian missile attacks. (ILKHA)
