Turkey offers condolences over Texas school shooting
Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a press release regarding a shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the United States.
“We are deeply saddened to learn that 19 children and 2 adults lost their lives and some were injured after a gun attack targeting an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas on 24 May,” the Ministry said.
“We convey our condolences to the American people and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” it added.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, United States, killing 21 people.
Earlier that day, Ramos shot and wounded his grandmother before proceeding to the school.
Of the people fatally shot, 19 were children and two were adults; several other children were wounded. Ramos went on to wound a law enforcement officer in a shootout before being killed.
The attack was the deadliest school shooting in the U.S. since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012 and the deadliest school shooting in Texas history.
It was the 27th shooting on school grounds in the United States for 2022. (ILKHA)
