Turkish presidency to hold Türkiye-Africa Media Summit in Istanbul

At the Summit, which will last for two days, panel sessions will be held on gender equality in the media sector, as well as the challenges facing journalism in the wake of the pandemic and digital siege.

The event organized on the occasion of Africa Day on May 25 will be attended by 80 members of the press from 45 African countries, as well as African diplomats and executives of state institutions, media representatives, academics, private sector representatives, and non-governmental organizations representatives.

The Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun will deliver the opening speech at the Türkiye-Africa Media Summit, which aims to increase collaboration and coordination between Turkish and African media members, share experiences, and develop a partnership perspective.

At the Summit, which will last for two days, panel sessions will be held on gender equality in the media sector, as well as the challenges facing journalism in the wake of the pandemic and "digital siege".

The event will feature discussions by Turkish and African journalists about the African perspective on global media as well as the international order.

The Summit will conclude with special sessions following the presentations of representatives of Turkish firms operating in Africa as well as institutions and organizations that contribute to the continent's human capital.

The event is anticipated to promote awareness of Türkiye in the African media and strengthen Türkiye's engagement with African countries in the field of media and communication. (ILKHA)
