Ukraine says its troops have killed 28,700 Russian soldiers since aggression began
Nearly 28,700 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine since the aggression began, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, Ukraine’s forces destroyed 1,263 Russian tanks, 204 aircraft, 168 helicopters, and 3,090 armored carriers.
The statement said that Ukrainian forces had destroyed 596 Russian artillery systems.
According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), at least 3,811 Ukrainian civilians were killed in Russian attacks.
“Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide impact area, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, and missile and airstrikes,” OHCHR said.
The agency noted that it believes that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration.
UN refugee agency said that more than 6.2 million Ukrainians had been forced to leave their country since Russian aggression began. (ILKHA)
