At least five killed in Poland mine accident
At least five people have been killed after methane explosions took place at a coal mine in southern Poland.
“The accident occurred in the N-6 wall at the level of 1000 m at 0.15. In the affected area, there were a total of 42 employees, 21 of them are already in hospitals,” tweeted the mining company operator Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW).
The rescue operation in the Pniówek mine in Pawłowice is limited to isolating the disaster area due to the high risk of further methane explosions and the safety of the rescue teams, the company added.
An investigation into the cause of the explosions is underway. (ILKHA)
