Local media sources said several strikes by israeli warplanes targeted Qadisiya site west of Khan Yunis city in the southern Gaza Strip.

No casualties or injuries have been reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Earlier, the zionist army claimed on Twitter that one rocket fired from Gaza was intercepted by israel’s Iron Dome aerial defense system.

It said the strikes were carried out in response to the rocket launch from Gaza into Israel, claiming: "We just targeted a Hamas weapons manufacturing site in Gaza."

The Qassam Brigades affirmed in a statement issued Tuesday that they have retaliated with surface-to-air missiles.

"Our air defense responded to Zionist warplanes in the skies of the Gaza Strip with surface-to-air missiles at exactly 01.35 local time Tuesday morning," it announced in a statement.

The new tension was the first in nearly six months, ending one of the longest periods of quiet on the Gaza border in years.

Commenting on the zionist regime’s attacks, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said "the Zionist bombing of some empty sites is a failed attempt to prevent our Palestinian people from defending the city of Jerusalem."

“Congratulations to the men of the resistance who confronted the fighter jets with our anti-aircraft defense,” Qassem added, saying it had been the first time that Hamas had used the surface-to-air missile. (ILKHA)
