UK inflation hits its highest level in 30 years amid a record increase in petrol and diesel prices
Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation increased 7% in the year to March, up from 6.2% in February, according to official figures.
“The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 7.0% in the 12 months to March 2022, up from 6.2% in February,” the Office for National Statistics said in a statement.
“On a monthly basis, CPI rose by 1.1% in March 2022, compared with a rise of 0.3% in March 2021,” it added.
It was once more the highest point since March 1992, when inflation stood at 7.1 %. (ILKHA)
