Activists call for protecting Aqsa against settler desecration
Jerusalemite activists Hinadi al-Halawani and Khadija Khuwais have urged the Palestinian masses to intensify their presence at Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan to protect it against settlers’ threats.
In press remarks on Monday, Halawani called for performing “I’tikaf” (religious retreat) at the Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan to protect it against settlers’ plots, calling it an obligation upon everyone who is able to reach the Aqsa Mosque.
She pointed out that extremist temple groups are determined to practice the Passover animal sacrifice rituals at the Aqsa Mosque at any cost and announced financial rewards for any settler who can bring a lamb into the Aqsa Mosque compound and then slaughter it or just attempt to do so and fail next Friday.
For her part, Khuwais stressed the importance of performing I’tikaf during the remaining days of Ramadan at the Aqsa Mosque to protect it against any attempt by settlers to desecrate it, calling on the Palestinian people to do their best to support and guard the Mosque against desecration and Judaization.
On Monday afternoon, settlers from Jewish temple groups conducted a simulation of the Passover animal sacrifice rituals in the Umayyad Palaces area near the Aqsa Mosque and urged their followers to attempt to slaughter lambs within the Mosque’s walls during the Passover holiday. (ILKHA)
