19,600 Russian soldiers killed since aggression began—Ukrainian Defense Ministry
About 19,600 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine since the aggression began, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, Ukraine’s forces destroyed 732 Russian tanks, 157 aircraft, 140 helicopters, and 1,946 armored carriers.
The statement said that Ukrainian forces had destroyed 349 Russian artillery systems.
According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), at least 1,842 Ukrainian civilians were killed in Russian attacks.
“Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide impact area, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, and missile and airstrikes,” OHCHR underlined.
OHCHR said that it believes that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration.
UN refugee agency said that more than 4,5 million Ukrainians had been forced to leave their country since Russian aggression began. (ILKHA)
