Erdoğan, Pakistan’s newly elected PM Shehbaz Sharif talk over phone
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Shehbaz Sharif, who has been elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
During the call, Erdoğan congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on his election as Prime Minister pursuant to the judgement of the National Assembly of Pakistan, the Turkish presidency said in a statement.
Voicing his wish for the election outcome to lead to auspicious developments for the friendly and brotherly people of Pakistan, Erdoğan stated that Türkiye was closely following the developments in Pakistan, with which it enjoyed long-standing ties of friendship and brotherhood. The President added that the people of Pakistan had once again demonstrated their commitment to democracy and the rule of law despite all the hardships and obstacles they had faced.
Erdoğan underlined that Türkiye would continue to lend every support in its power to Pakistan, as it has done in the past. (ILKHA)
