562 Russian soldiers are officially in captivity, Ukraine says
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk said that 562 Russian servicemen were officially being held in captivity by Ukrainian troops.
“If we talk about Russian prisoners of war, we have 562 of them. Because there is a so-called cargo of 200. We also shape it and organize it. Together with the Red Cross,” Vereshchuk said.
Vereshchuk underlined that Ukraine is doing everything in accordance with international humanitarian law.
There have been many instances of troops being captured by both Ukrainian and Russian forces throughout the invasion.
Ukrainian officials published photos and videos of killed and captured Russian soldiers.
Amnesty International argued that Article 13 of the Third Geneva Convention prohibits videos of captured soldiers. (ILKHA)
