Erdoğan, US President Biden discuss Russia-Ukraine over phone
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Joe Biden of the United States on Thursday.
The call addressed regional developments, including Russia's attack on Ukraine and the Türkiye-US relations, according to the Turkish presidency.
Stating that Türkiye continued its efforts in order for a political resolution to be reached between Russia and Ukraine, Erdoğan pointed to the importance of Türkiye's dialogue with both sides and facilitating position in seeking a solution in case the crisis deepened further.
Drawing attention to the importance of the Russian and Ukrainian Foreign Ministers getting an opportunity to hold a face-to-face talk hosted by Türkiye today in Antalya thanks to the channel of trust opened up by Türkiye, Erdoğan underscored that even the organization of such a meeting was in itself a diplomatic victory.
Stressing that Türkiye expected its demand from the US for the procurement of 40 new planes and the modernization of the existing F-16s to be finalized as soon as possible, Erdoğan noted that it was high time that all the unjust sanctions against Türkiye in the defense industry had been lifted.
