Two UN peacekeepers killed in Mali
Two UN peacekeeping soldiers were killed after a roadside bomb exploded in central Mali on Monday, the UN's mission to the country said.
“This morning, a logistics convoy from the @UN_MINUSMA hit an improvised explosive device north of #Mopti. According to a first assessment, the explosion caused the death of two peacekeepers, four others were injured,” MINUSMA spokesman Olivier Salgado said on Twitter.
Although MINUSMA did not immediately give the nationalities of the casualties, local sources said that they were members of the force's Egyptian contingent.
The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) is a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mali.
MINUSMA was established on 25 April 2013 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2100 to stabilize the country after the Tuareg rebellion of 2012. (ILKHA)
