Russia detains more than 5,000 anti-war protesters
Russian police have so far detained 5,016 people who protested Russian aggression against Ukraine, the independent monitoring group OVD-Info announced on Monday.
“As of 03/07/22 11:18, more than 5,016 people have already been detained in 69 cities. There may be more detainees in each police department than in the published lists. We publish only the names of those people whom we know for certain and whose names we can publish,” the group said, citing the Russian Interior Ministry.
According to the statement, some 2,394 protesters were detained in Moscow alone.
Despite the fierce crackdown from Russian police, numerous demonstrations have taken place across Russia since the invasion. (ILKHA)
